We are a small sheep farm in northeast Nebraska. Life moves slowly here. the country silence is broken only by the occasional baaaing of sheep, bawling of calves, whinnying of horses or the farmer down the gravel road gearing up his grain truck to take his harvest to the local grain elevator. We have no stop lights, no taxis, no freeways. sheep spend their lives here grazing on green hillsides. Spinning and dying yarns is a way of life here at Myrrhwood farm. With our small flock of sheep which so generously donate their wool, we spin and dye yarns that are beautiful and unique. Eventho we spin a lot of our own yarn, we do bring in some outside yarns for dying. These are wonderfully soft merino yarn spun at approximately 1680 yards per pound. It is beautiful for socks, or lacy shawls, or whatever your creative heart desires! We have created a very nice line of handpainted Sock Yarns for you to choose from. All of our sock yarns are made from the finest Merino wool we can find. We hand dye all of our sock yarns here at Myrrhwood farm. All come in one pound quantities and all are designed by Beth and myself and no two are alike. All of these yarns are sold in 8oz. skeins and each hank should be enough to make two pair of socks on size 2 or 3 needles. We dye our sock yarns both in a random pattern which will give you an overall appearance, as well as space dyed which will give you more of a stripped pattern. Our merino sock yarns are spun at 1680 yards per pound, each 8 oz. hank will be approximately 840 yards . Our sock yarn is a plyed yarn which gives it plenty of spring.

This yarn is wonderfully soft, delightfully colorful fingering weight yarn. 3ply 14 wraps per inch and 1680 yards per pound. We have sold alot of this yarn for socks, but really, its great for any project requiring a fingering weight yarn. It is sold in 8oz. hanks. We make every effort to purchase yarn made in the United States. However on occassion we do bring in yarn made in Canada and South Africa.
